Lashings of Ginger Beer

Celebrate the 70th anniversary of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five books in Dorset with the Launch of the Famous Five Adventure Trail 2012 www.f5trail.co.uk.  The trail captures the spirit of the books and is for anyone who has ever wanted to take part in a Famous Five style adventure themselves. The Adventure Trail runs until November and is set around places that Enid Blyton knew well such as Swanage Pier and Steam Railway.

The Trail has been set up by Viv Endecott, who runs the Ginger Pop Shop in Corfe Castle and Eileen Soper’s Illustrated Worlds on Poole Quay.  Enid Blyton loved the area and visited three times a year for over twenty years. There is so much she would still recognise. Purbeck is full of castles, islands, and lovely beaches so it’s a great place to inspire a writer or for family holidays.

A big Enid Blyton Birthday Party is planned in the grounds of Corfe Castle on August 11th. There will be a wide variety of activities on the day including storytelling, art and craft.

Westcott is an ideal place to stay, within view of the castle grounds is this wonderful, 16th century, detached cottage. Beautifully renovated, the cottage retains an immense charm with the original beamed ceilings, leaded windows, flagstone floors and characteristic Purbeck stone tile roof. Inside, the traditional features blend wonderfully with the contemporary design.

The Spot at Studland is another stunning property overlooking the sea and National Trust heathland. The bungalow sleeps 5 and is beautifully decorated and furnished with a nautical theme.

Alternatively take a look at our other properties around the Dorset area.
